Teenage Pregnancy
You hold your breath as you wait to see that little symbol pop up—it’s amazing to see what can be defined (or redefined) within a moment by a simple “+” or “—“. An utter sigh of relief typically follows the “—”. However, many young women who see the “+” face a different reality filled with such questions as:
“How do I tell my parents?”
“Is he going to leave me?”
“How do I finish school?”
“Is everybody going to stare at me?”
“How do I raise enough money?”
“Who’s going to look after it while I’m at work/school?”
“How much does insurance cost?”
“Will I be able to get married and have the family I always wanted?”
“What will this child think of me?”
And what about Food, Formula, Diapers, Clothes, Cribs, Baby wipes, Washcloths, Blankets, Pacifiers, Car seats, Strollers, Diaper bags....?
These are just a few of the thoughts that run through the minds of the average 400,000 + teens who get pregnant each year. Pretty heavy stuff. And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Being a teen is difficult enough on its own. True. However, being a teen parent is like using a pair of scissors to cut the grass in a 50 acre prairie during the springtime…it’s possible, it’s just NOT easy!
There’s a lot more to the picture teen pregnancy than what is usually first perceived. Are you ready? You won't have to be if you choose Abstinence.
