In this digital culture, it is likely for most children to have their own phones, smartphones that is. Kids utilize these devices not only for getting in touch with their parents (as was our intention for giving them a phone). Rather, they use them for social media purposes such as Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and Facebook, or for watching videos on YouTube. Focus on the Family introduced a new software for parents called Forcefield that allows parents to monitor how their kids are using online-capable devices. This program not only monitors what is shared on social media, but also can be used to turn off specific apps on your kids’ smartphones and computers. Check out Forcefield here for more information.
