I know I talk about media frequently.  And sometimes, I feel like people are probably tired of hearing about it, especially from me.  However, I can’t let this one slide by. A few weeks ago, I tuned in to Fox one Thursday night.  I’m not much of a primetime TV viewer (unless it’s sports).

A few weeks ago, my husband and I were taking a walk. And, by “taking a walk,” I mean we had just finished jogging and I was gasping for air while my husband nonchalantly carried on a conversation with our three-year-old daughter. As we walked past the jail, my very observant and curious daughter noticed the steel plates over the windows and asked,” Daddy, what is that place?

Just a few weeks ago, I wrote about the new MTV show Buckwild.  I wrote about the bad choices that are highlighted throughout the show. And, about the seeming lack of consequences. Earlier this month, the carefree façade came crashing down. On April 1st, after being reported missing, Buckwild breakout star Shain Gandee was found dead.

“Had no example of a love, that was even remotely real How can you understand something that you never had Ooh baby if you let me, I can help you out with all of that Girl let me love you And I will love you Until you learn to love yourself Girl let me love you And all your trouble Don't be afraid, girl let me help Girl let me love you And I will love you Until you learn to love yourself Girl let me love you A heart of numbness, gets brought to life I'll take you there” – Let Me Love You by Ne-Yo The first time I heard Ne-Yo’s song Let Me Love You I thought “Aw how sweet!

Last time we took a look at the growing trend of single-parent adoptions. I told you about the gut-punching moment I experienced when a friend said “If I’m not married by 35, I am going to adopt.” I showed you the statistics of what children without fathers are up against.

“If I’m not married by 35, I’m going to adopt.” I remember the first time I heard one of my single friends say that phrase. I felt like I had just been punched in the gut. To be honest I did not know how to respond. The statement didn’t sit right but I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why.

Jersey Shore is over.  The only thing left are a few references to Snooki and the Situation in his “situation.” I can’t say I’ve ever actually watched an episode of Jersey Shore.  I don’t know the characters.  I can guess the storyline.

Cheater, cheater, pumpkin eater.  It was so easy to chant that as a child, when the only thing at stake was a game of hide and seek or freeze tag. But, those words are ringing ever so true right now to Lance Armstrong.  The only way you could have missed this story is if you are living with your head stuck in the sand.

I just erased a whole post that I had written.      It was funny. At least, I thought it was.  But, I couldn't bring it around to say what I wanted it to.  I was working on it and working on it, and I couldn't get past the typical "girls, don't feel pressured by the media to look a certain way.

So, what about this issue of cohabitation?  Why is it a bad idea?  Does a piece of paper or a ceremony really make that much of a difference? I have several friends who opted to live together before pursuing marriage.  And, as far as I know, each of those instances turned into marriage, and each marriage is going strong.
