Contraception
There are a number of different types of contraception out there, but none are going to offer the same protection against sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy as abstinence. If you aren’t having sex, you aren’t going to end up with an STD or an unplanned pregnancy. Period.
Though hormonal birth control methods (the pill, the patch, the shot) offer the highest protection against pregnancy, they offer no protection against STDs. And condoms? Well, with typical use, pregnancy occurs about one out of six times. And, to top it off, even a condom can’t offer 100-percent protection against an STD…not even HIV.
And these things can change your life. Think geometry is hard? Try waking up every night at 3 a.m. to feed a hungry baby. Think you’re busy with football practice? Try taking repeated trips to the doctor to get the genital warts removed.
So, yeah, that really sounds like “safe” sex. Do you feel protected?
